3 Portugal Destinations Your Clients Can't Find on a Search Tab
Monsaraz, Piodão and Miranda do Douro: the second chapter for clients who have already done Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve.
The clients who return, or who ask for a trip that doesn't look like anyone else's, need a different route. These are three places we keep recommending to advisors for exactly that reason. Each one gives you a hero moment that stays with the client long after the trip.
1. Monsaraz, Alentejo
A walled medieval village above the Alqueva reservoir, with no tour buses and no souvenir shops. It offers quiet, which is hard to find in Europe now. Imagine, a sunset from the castle walls, the village turning gold over the lake, then dinner of local lamb and wood-oven bread.
Pairs well with an Alentejo wine visit and a stargazing evening on the Alqueva shore.
2. Piodão, Aldeias do Xisto
A village built entirely from dark schist, with blue doors and window frames as the only colour. The long drive on narrow mountain roads keeps the crowds away, and it makes this a destination where local control matters. Imagine a guided walk through the village and the surrounding trails, ending at a table in a place with very few seats.
It´s a great place for active clients and photographers.
3. Miranda do Douro, Trás-os-Montes
Portugal's least visited corner, on the Spanish border above a deep Douro canyon. The town has its own language, Mirandese, officially recognised as Portugal's second language, along with its own music and dances. Imagine a lunch built around posta mirandesa, the regional veal steak, followed by time on the canyon.
It´s great for clients who want a Portugal that looks nothing like the postcard.
